Testing for Giftedness, Advanced Academic Programs, or Private Schools

Certain schools and programs—including gifted, advanced, and private school settings—often require intelligence and/or academic testing. While test scores are not the only factor considered in determining eligibility, they can help clarify a student’s learning profile and whether a program is a good fit. This is particularly important for students who may be twice-exceptional (2e), where areas of strength and challenge can coexist and may not be fully captured through school-based screening alone.

While schools may complete screenings, they do not always conduct comprehensive evaluations. Families are encouraged to discuss options with their school and consider working with an experienced, board-certified neuropsychologist. A comprehensive understanding of both strengths and areas of need can be especially helpful in navigating next steps for students with complex or uneven learning profiles. These evaluations often involve 1-2 hours of testing and potentially input from family and schools. Parents provide background information via a Patient History form and meet briefly with the psychologist on the day of testing. Feedback is provided via a brief report they can share with school. The fee is $500. Parents are invited to schedule a brief in-person or telehealth feedback for an addition fee ($150 for 30 minutes).

To secure a testing date at Comprehensive Neuropsychology Services, a $500 nonrefundable deposit is required. This deposit will be applied toward the total amount due. See Patient Policies for more details.
