Evaluations for Youth with Medical or Neurological Conditions

When your child or loved one has a brain injury, illness, or insult, or a complex medical or genetic condition that affects their brain, you want to understand them and how to help. You also want people in their lives, such as family members, teachers, and providers, to provide the right services and supports. A board-certified neuropsychologist with expertise and years of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with complex neurological and medical conditions can help.

Some individuals require specific treatments or surgeries that can affect the brain. For example, individuals with brain tumors or epilepsy may undergo brain surgery or children with other cancers like leukemia may require chemotherapy in the spinal column. To better understand the cognitive effects of treatment, an individual should undergo a baseline evaluation so future abilities can be compared.

While targeting the specific cognitive areas of need or risk, these evaluations are often comprehensive and typical involve 5-7 hours of testing. In-person testing can be done in one or two sessions. The fee is $4300 and includes the initial consultation, testing, scoring and interpretation, one 50-minute feedback, and a report. The initial consultation and feedback can be completed via telehealth. Collaboration with medical teams, schools, and other providers is offered at no cost, although attendance at school meetings is offered at the hourly evaluation rate ($300/hour).
