Dr. Katherine Baum

Owner, Licensed Psychologist
Board Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist

Katherine T. Baum, Ph.D., ABPP is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist and the owner and founder of Comprehensive Neuropsychology Services (CNS) in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. At CNS, she leads a practice dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with neurological, medical, developmental, and genetic conditions.

Dr. Baum received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, where she focused her training in pediatric neuropsychology. She completed her clinical internship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. In 2019, she achieved board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), a distinction held by only a small percentage of psychologists.

Before opening CNS, Dr. Baum held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and worked as a pediatric neuropsychologist at CHOP and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. In these roles, she developed and expanded neuropsychology services within inpatient rehabilitation, oncology, and hematology settings, supervised trainees across all levels, and collaborated extensively with interdisciplinary medical teams.

Her research and numerous publications focus on pediatric brain injury, oncology, rehabilitation, epilepsy, autism spectrum disorders, and genetic conditions. She has contributed to national guidelines for neuropsychological care in pediatric oncology and inpatient rehabilitation, and serves on multiple boards and professional collaboratives, including the Specialist of Schools (SOS) Board and Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board. Dr. Baum has also presented widely at national and international conferences on brain injury, neuropsychological care, and resilience in medically complex populations.

As the owner of CNS, Dr. Baum is known for her thorough, compassionate, and family-centered approach. Parents describe her as “brilliant, dedicated, and kind,” noting that she “infuses warmth, compassion, and humor” into testing, while still maintaining the highest level of rigor. Fellow professionals call her “an asset to the special needs community,” recognizing that her evaluations and reports are highly respected among schools and directly improve individualized programming for children with disabilities.

Through her practice, Dr. Baum is committed to providing clear, practical recommendations that empower families and schools to better understand and support each child’s learning and well-being. She sees each evaluation not as a series of tests, but as a partnership — one that identifies strengths, clarifies challenges, and creates a roadmap for growth. She also places strong value on incorporating each child and teen’s perspective into the process and provides them with direct feedback—whether through a narrative story for younger children or a patient-friendly summary letter for teens—so they feel empowered and understood.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Baum treasures time with her husband, their son, and their 110-pound Akita. She enjoys cooking, camping, hiking, dancing, and finding joy in life’s small, everyday moments.
